I'm curious: what inspired you to make the shift to Wordpress with your personal site?

Are you asking why I have a Wordpress site? Because I had my Wordpress blog for a few years before I got on Substack. I kept my blog mostly because I feel more ownership over it. Here, it feels like I'm renting digital space to share my ideas. I have no control over how and what changes Substack will make, or if it will close shop one day. I find more community and engagement here though. Wordpress feels like screaming to the void.

Hope that answers your questions...

Maybe you just changed the layout, and that's what drew my attention to the question. But outside of that, it makes sense!

Yes, I changed the theme! That's another flexibility I love about Wordpress. You can do a lot with how your blog looks versus Substack. But I also appreciate the aesthetic limitations of Substack because it forces me to focus on content and not get sidetracked by aesthetics.

PS: https://mehretbiruk.com/about/ You misspelled an important word. First paragraph. Makes it really funny, though!
