Hi there,
What’s better than followers is/
Actually fallin’ in love
Five things to share:
I spent many years and lots and lots of effort trying to spend less time online. Effort that makes you hate yourself because you never get there: What is wrong with me? Why can’t I just put this damn phone down? Why do I spend so much of my time online? All good questions. Important to get fed up with yourself first. Here’s a secret though: You are not addicted to your phone, you are addicted to escaping yourself. The work of healing is no joke— Just so's you're sure, sweetheart, and ready to be healed, cause wholeness is no trifling matter. A lot of weight when you're well— but it is the only thing that will actually work. In fact, this is the advice that should get time spent offline to zero subscribers because once you heal, once you give up your addiction to escaping yourself, you won’t need this space anymore. You won’t need anything but yourself. To heal is the realization that you are enough, and enough with or without. When you feel enough you can be present and when you can be present, you won’t need to escape, whatever the poison.
(P.s. No blog post this week. I spent the weekend offline— I had no choice, I had no service at the cottage, laughed entirely way too much, got sick when we got back.)
I gave my blog a lil facelift: I’m so happy with how it turned out! There are some good stuff in the archive. I’m always too busy moving forward but it’s nice to look back once in a while and be delighted by how far I have come on this journey to spending less time online. I had no idea then I would make it this far, be this offline, and that it would be as wonderful as it is. If you’re still struggling to unplug and spend more time offline, I say trust the journey, trust yourself just a little more. Let life surprise and delight you.
A quote I want to share with you:
All of humanity’s problems stem from man’s inability to sit quietly in a room alone.
— Blaise PascalIt doesn’t count if you are on your phone. :P
Life is a full contact sport, don’t watch it through a 5 inch screen
A challenge for you: AMPLIFY YOUR SPIRIT. When was the last time you experiences an extended period of solitude? What was the last night sky you sat under? Dedicate an hour one night to sitting alone in the dark. Go outside if you can and sit under the stars. Pledge to reserve time each week to attune yourself to the awe that resides within you. P.s. Just curious…
That’s all for this week!
