I struggle with this, largely because I know the website SUCKS, but man. The mentoring I've been able to do through it is invaluable. So. I'm weighing out ho to handle it responsibly.

When I'm faced with similar dilemma- "private interactions" invaluable, LinkedIn as a whole SUCKS, or for me GPS invaluable, smartphones SUCK- I try to find ways to take advantage of the tool and ignore their cheap tricks (turning my smartphone "dumb") It's a mental game though, I can easily turn my smartphone back to its full distract-ability, but I like the feeling of using the tools without letting them use me, like a small fuck-you to the attention economy. That feeling keeps me going. I'm not going to struggle with a flip-phone but I won't let the smartphone take over my attention either, so finding that balance, and keeping the balance in my favour always.

Thanks for sharing the article btw! It tickled me it got shared on LinkedIn xD
