I read that New Yorker article, and I ended up going "really?" when I finished it. He cannot see that he's addicted to the internet? Like you said, Mehret - addiction is one hell of a drug.
I felt a bit judgmental but it was so obviously a cope to try and use "being informed" as an excuse for why the writer is addicted to technology. I felt exhausted reading about the multiple screens going off all at once, I can't believe I used to live that way once! 😅
When I read the first few paragraphs, I was also going "ohmylawd, what's going on here?" and then I realised that he was describing his usual mornings/evenings with his wife at home. I also felt exhausted reading those parts! So I definitely feel you :)
So fascinating about point no. 1 Mehret because while reading it my immediate reaction was that it didn’t sound like you at all - the style of writing I mean. It was a jarring tone switch from the introduction and your usual style. So I went « Ahah!» when I read it was written by AI

The best compliment ever <3 and why I'll never use AI to write!
