You need space

Between you and your smartphone

Hi there,

Happy June! Sometimes, all you need is a lil' space.

Below are five things I thought were worth sharing this week:

  1. I used to spend 35 hours on average on my phone every week. That’s a full time job. How is it possible to spend that much time on one’s phone while managing other life responsibilities? During the in-between moments; of waiting for the train, during a meal, right before sleep, right after waking up, during a conversation, walking to a building, while on the toilet. My phone was an extension of me. It was with me every moment of every day. I needed space; “it’s not you, it’s me” style. So, I created space between me and my smartphone.

  2. My reading has slowed down these past two months. I don’t have any book that is worth sharing with you this week. Your turn: what have you been reading lately? Anything good? Any book you just couldn’t get through? Share in the comments or send me an email!

  3. Technology should work for us, but what happens when it doesn't? Comedian Chuck Nice explores the unintended consequences of technological advancement and human interaction— with hilarious results. Like the time he was on Grindr until he found out it wasn’t a sandwich app.

  4. A quote I want to share with you this week:

“If you take care of the moments, the years will take care of themselves.”
    — Maria Edgeworth.

The moments are worth paying attention to and taking care of.

  5. 7 Easy Ways to Minimize Your Phone Addiction So You Can Be Human Again. ‘Nuff said.

That’s all for this week!

Thank you for reading, and please share with anyone you think may benefit.
