Hi there,
Last week, I told you why I’m radically downsizing my digital footprint and digital commitments: To reclaim my time and attention. But is digital declutter for everyone?
Five things to share:
Digital declutter is a deeply personal journey. Everyone finds different aspects of the digital world overwhelming and stressful, if at all. If digital declutter is for you, paying attention, identifying your top offenders, and visualizing your ideal uncluttered digital space to minimize digital overwhelm.
A while ago, I read Cal Newport’s Digital Minimalism: Choosing a Focused Life in Noisy World. It is an excellent starting point for inspiration to use technology more intentionally and with purpose.
I watched Are You Up for a Digital Declutter by Cal Newport. In this 8-minute video, Newport explains why you need to go all-in if you want to redefine your relationship with technology.
A quote I want to share with you:
The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it.
— Henry David ThoreauWhat is your digital clutter costing you?
This is what Emily McDermott learned from a digital declutter: The answer to lightening your load isn’t more square footage, a fancier gadget, or being ‘better’ at organizing your stuff. It isn’t hiding in a shiny new storage unit, an online shopping cart, or colour-coordinated bins. It is found by looking closely at what takes up your space, energy, and time and offloading what you no longer need to make room for the life you want— and deserve.
That is all for this week!
Thank you for reading, and please share with anyone you think may benefit.
